WATCH: Danielle Collins works on some smart wordplay as she stamps Charleston with her name after a thrilling victory against Daria Kasatkina

There seems to be no stopping Danielle Collins‘ victory parade on American soil. Following her monumental victory at the 2024 Miami Open, she has repeated the feat with another title.

Playing on the green soil of the WTA-500 Charleston Open 2024, Collins defeated Daria Kasatkina in the finals. Collins won the match 6-2, 6-1 in one hour and 17 minutes to win her fourth career title. It is also her second Tour title on clay, with the previous win coming at the 2021 Palermo Ladies Open.

As is custom, the winning player gets to sign the camera. Collins also did the same but with a little twist. Usually, a camera from the opposite end shows what’s written, as the original camera has the mirror image on itself. Collins, however, showed her smartness as she directly wrote as a mirror image.

This made things easy for the original camera, which could directly read the text written on it. After writing her message, she gave a wink at the camera before keeping down the pen, and her message became clear.

The win ensures Collins returns to the top 15 of the WTA singles ranking. She was ranked 53rd when she turned up in Miami. With the title at the WTA-1000 event followed by her latest win in Charleston, Collins is now the World No. 15.

Kasatkina was ranked 11th and will remain at her spot despite the runner-up finish. She needed to win the title to re-enter the Top 10. However, Collins’ victory derails her return. She now trails World No. 10 Jelena Ostapenko, with 125 separating the two players.

Fans were left stunned by Danielle Collins’ mirrored writing

Collins might have gotten very used to writing on the camera given her 13-match unbeaten streak. The American has dropped only two sets during the run which is now her best-ever winning streak.

Her previous best came in 2021 when she won 12 matches on the trot with two titles as well. She played the matches, however, not in consecutive weeks, making this current run extra special. While her results were impressive enough, the mirror image writing further left fans stunned.

Playing in her final season on the Tour, the 30-year-old also matched her childhood idol‘s feat. With the wins in Miami and Charleston, Collins matched Serena Williams‘ feat from 2008 and 2013 of winning the two tournaments.

The achievement is special given that Miami is played on hard courts and Charleston on green clay. The green clay becomes a bit different from the red clay, adding to the challenge. With some fabulous match wins over the past three weeks, Collins will now be eager to return to action as quickly as possible to continue her winning streak.
