Carlos Alcaraz was captured on camera greeting the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton and her daughter Princess Charlotte following his victory at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The Princess of Wales was also accompanied at the men’s final by her younger sister, Pippa.

The Princess of Wales’ appearance at the grasscourt Major is her second public appearance since she was diagnosed with cancer in March. From the royal box of Centre Court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Middleton watched as Alcaraz defeated 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) in the final to clinch his fourth Grand Slam title.

After the trophy presentation ceremony on Sunday, the official Wimbledon Championships YouTube account posted a video taken off the court that featured the Spaniard holding the Wimbledon trophy and having a conversation with the Princess of Wales and her daughter.

Aside from the Princess of Wales, her daughter Princess Charlotte and younger sister Pippa, the 2024 Wimbledon Championships men’s singles final attracted celebrities and dignitaries from the world over.

Others who were in the royal box include Hollywood actor Tom Cruise alongside “Mission: Impossible” director Christopher McQuarrie, 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and English actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

With his victory over Novak Djokovic on Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz has now won two of the four Wimbledon Championships he has participated in.

The Spaniard turned pro in 2018 and made his first appearance at Wimbledon in 2021, where he was knocked out in the second round by Daniil Medvedev. In the following year, at the 2022 edition, he was eliminated by Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the fourth round.

In 2023, Alcaraz won the second Grand Slam title of his fledgling career at the Wimbledon Championships by defeating four-time defending champion Novak Djokovic 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in the final.

He became the first non-Big-Four player since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002 to win the tournament, breaking the streak of victories by Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.

Carlos Alcaraz’s fourth appearance at the tournament was the 2024 edition, where he clinched the title by defeating Novak Djokovic again in the final 6–2, 6–2, 7–6(4), stopping the Serb from winning his 25th Grand Slam singles title and surpassing Margaret Court on the all-time list.

After Sunday’s final, Alcaraz, who also won the French Open in June, expressed to the press how honored he was to join the ranks of players who have won both titles in a single year.

“It’s a huge honor for me to be part of those players who have achieved Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year. They are huge champions, I don’t consider myself as a champion yet, not like them, but I’ll keep going to build my path, my journey,” Carlos Alcaraz said.

Next for the 21-year-old is the 2024 Summer Olympics’ tennis event where he will compete in the men’s doubles category alongside 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal.
