Roger Federer Shares Insights on His Daughters’ Lack of Passion for Sports

As a parent, Roger Federer doesn’t really want his “first kids to be tennis players.” While he already left his fans in awe with his enthusiastic joy in fatherhood post-retirement, he has surprised the fraternity with his thoughts about his twin girls’ getting into tennis. Revealing a shocking truth about Myla and Charlene, Federer shows off his protective father’s side with his remark on the case.

In an interview with People.com, Federer revealed an interesting thought about his twin daughters Myla and Charlene, and tennis. Speaking about how his 15-year-old girls are not remotely interested in tennis, Federer said- “They do play tennis, and we ski, and we’re all learning to golf. We recently tried scuba diving. But the girls were never passionate about tennis, and I was relieved about it,”

However, Federer further revealed that among his twin boys Leo and Lenny, the former is getting serious about Federer’s favorite sport. He also mentioned how much both of his boys love soccer. While the Swiss former tennis legend’s statements might hint fans at him not encouraging his kids to play tennis, Federer further revealed that he is cool if any of them wishes to pursue the sport. “I’ll jump on the court with them whenever they want,”- said Federer.

Last year in an interview, Federer showcased a similar point of view as he surprised the interviewer with his response. “Yes, I think the boys, that they are younger, I feel like they are more into it. I am happy that the girls didn’t get into it, like, uh, super crazy from the get-go. The boys..”- said the world’s former number-one tennis star.

Federer’s response came as a surprise for the interviewer and he interrupted the Swiss former legend, for which he couldn’t finish his statement. However, from that excerpt, it was clear to the fans that Federer was not very enthusiastic about his daughters playing the sport.

While Federer’s response came as shocking news for his fans, the former ATP legend also revealed the reason for such thinking. “I didn’t need my first kids to be tennis players, to be honest. We were traveling, so it was hard to put in the hours, okay?”- said Federer.

In the beginning, fans were disappointed hearing Federer’s opinion but later they understood how this Swiss legend acted like a protective father, which is very normal for any parent. When they understood Federer’s perspective, fans were delighted with joy. They also understood the reason why Federer didn’t want to coach his children.

Roger Federer admits that he is “still the dad” in terms of coaching his children Roger Federer might be one of the GOATs of tennis but to his kids, he is just a father. In an interview last year, Federer candidly revealed why he can’t coach his children and the response brought a toll of laughter among his fans. “You know, I’m not the coach, I’m the dad. The dad’s advice, as we know, only goes so far. It doesn’t matter if you’ve won Wimbledon or not; you’re still the dad”- said Federer.

Now Federer’s statement was clear for fans to understand that above all he is a devoted father and is thoroughly enjoying this phase. When Dartmouth presented an honorary doctorate to the legend for his philanthropy, Federer couldn’t stop but express love for all four of his children, who completed his life and made it worth living post-retirement. Therefore, it is understandable why he doesn’t wish to force his favorite sport on them.

Roger Federer’s relief about his twin girls not being interested in tennis showcases the father in him. Despite being a 20-time Grand Slam winner, Federer wishes to present himself as a devoted father to his kids and a family man. This generous side of his character makes Federer one of the living legends of tennis.
