The two-time Australian Open champion’s hilarious good luck ritual with Jason Stacy is back on at Roland Garros.
Now, Sabalenka is just as famous for her fun pre-tournament TikTok videos, where she pulls in various members of her coaching team to do a dance after practice, and for posting up a storm on social media with her fellow WTA players, including tour “soulmate” Paula Badosa. It’s all a part of Sabalenka and her team’s ongoing efforts to keep things light and reduce stress.
She also knows when to unplug, too, like when she recently dropped by Emilia-Romagna for the Formula 1 Imola Grand Prix for a quick break after Rome before locking in for the clay-court Grand Slam.
“You have to be positive, because it’s enough tension on court. If you’re gonna bring this tension off court, it’s just too much,” Sabalenka admitted. “So for me, the better way (is) to loosen up and to keep it mentally good, it’s just to have fun, of course.
“Honestly, this is just the way I am,” she added with a grin. “Good or bad, whatever, but this is who I am!”
