Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z were once thought to share a close friendship, a claim that has been brought into question following new revelations from Diddy’s former bodyguard.
The two rappers are currently facing a joint lawsuit that alleges they assaulted someone together. In a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, Gene Deal, Diddy’s ex-bodyguard, spoke about the nature of their relationship.
When asked about their closeness, Deal remarked, “How close were Diddy and Jay-Z? They were close enough that they were not just playing basketball, baseball, football, or hockey. Diddy would come on stage and pat him on the back, making it clear that ‘can’t nobody call me Sean but Jay-Z.’”
Deal, who worked with Bad Boy Records, founded by Diddy, further revealed, “They were so close that they even had matching white girlfriends. When they saw each other, they would ask, ‘Yo, how’s your skinny white girl doing?’ That’s a certain type of closeness, I guess.”
Both rappers have denied the allegations against them in court. Diddy is currently awaiting trial at the Metropolitan Detention Centre, where he has been held since his arrest on September 16.
