After dubbing herself “too shy” to talk to her idol, the 17-year-old mustered up the courage in Paris to ask for a snapshot to remember.
Andreeva’s endearing hero-worship Murray, whom she’s called an idol, was one of the hallmarks of her prodigious pro-level debut in 2023: She famously dubbed the Scot “so beautiful” upon first laying eyes on him in person at the Mutua Madrid Open.
“Imagine how good she’s going to be when she gets her eyes fixed,” he quipped in response on X, formerly Twitter.
Later last year, at Wimbledon, Andreeva finally met Murray, but said she was “too shy” to strike up a conversation.
“When I see him I try to leave the facility super quick, just to not have to talk to him!” she said.
What a difference a year makes.
