Locked in: Roland Garros stars take target practice in viral ping-pong challenge

You know how good they are at aiming for their spots on-court, but how about this?

Ready, bounce! You know how good they are at aiming for their spots on-court, but this week, we found out how good the stars of Roland Garros can be at a different kind of target practice.

The challenge posed by the tournament’s content team was simple: Bounce a ping-pong ball off of three inverted pots and into a cup at the end of the table. But the execution proved to be anything but.

“We don’t do that in Tunisia,” Ons Jabeur joked. “We play harissa pong.”

Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev, too, kept their expectations low.

“I’m going to be horrible,” Zverev said, while Rublev expected a “long, long day.”

Some aced a hole-in-one on their first try, including Carlos Alcaraz, Arthur Fils and Aryna Sabalenka.

Others, like Stefanos Tsitsipas and Holger Rune, needed a few more attempts. OK, many more.

“Has anybody gotten it?” Coco Gauff queried at one stage. When informed yes, she replied: “Oh my god!”

“Everyone else has done this,” the retiring Alize Cornet quipped in French. “Why did I choose to do this?”

But the key for success in the challenge, Naomi Osaka said, was all about the technique.

It’s not all that different then a forehand, is it?
