Camila Giorgi Left Tennis Without Saying A Word To Pursue A Career As A Lingerie Model

Camila Giorgi retired from tennis this week without any warning.

The 32-year-old Italian professional tennis player – a four-time WTA Tour champion who beat Serena Williams in the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2018 – has been included on the Tennis Integrity Authority’s list of retired players International (ITIA) on Tuesday.

That paperwork removed her from the list of players tested for drugs.

Her retirement date is: May 7, 2024.

According to Corriere della Sera, an Italian newspaper, the WTA was unable to contact Giorgi or her family and was unaware of her retirement.

Giorgi, who last competed at the Miami Open in March, is currently pursuing a career as a lingerie model, according to Marca, and said she has interests in fashion beyond tennis.

Giorgi is currently ranked 116th in the WTA rankings after achieving her career-high singles ranking of world number 26 in 2018.

The athlete has amassed a large social media following — she has 732,000 followers on Instagram — and owns a fashion brand, Giomila.

Giorgi most recently competed at the Miami Open, where she was defeated by world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in a second-round loss.

She has a 3-5 record in competitions in 2024.

Giorgi raised eyebrows when she did not attend the French Open, which begins May 20 and runs until June 9.

Giorgi reached the round of 16 at the US Open in 2013 and Roland Garros in 2022.
