Argentina’s Julia Riera, the world No. 107, got an unwelcome surprise when she arrived in the seaside town.
This one is for the birds. Ahead of next week’s Rothesay Intenational, known for its vociferous seagulls, WTA player Julia Riera found herself face-to-face with a particularly brazen one in an unexpected place: her hotel room.
The 22-year-old Argentine, who played her first Grand Slam main draw last month at Roland Garros, arrived in the seaside town to find her lodging already occupied by a winged guest, whom she discovered perched on the room’s desk chair.
While she got away from the encounter unharmed, the same couldn’t be said for her room itself, if the video Riera posted to her social media account is to be believed. (And it has us asking, ‘How’d the bird get through thatopen window?)
