On Thursday, Andy Murray took Centre Court alongside brother Jamie Murray to officially launch his final Wimbledon campaign.

The Brits were welcomed to a roaring standing ovation inside a packed house as the first team to enter the iconic venue. Opponents John Peers and Rinky Hijikata followed.

Among those in the Murray box on hand for the emotional occasion: Andy’s two eldest children, Sophia and Edie. The two were, of course, joined by their mum Kim and grandmother Judy.

In the end, the scoreboard didn’t reflect a win. Hijikata and Peers prevailed, 7-6 (6), 6-4. Appause, laughs and lots of tears followed during a beautiful tribute that saw Sue Barker step out of retirement to interview the three-time major champion.

The likes of Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek, Lleyton Hewitt and Martina Navratilova helped send off the future Hall of Famer. Murray’s tournament isn’t over yet, assuming his body holds up to play mixed doubles with countrywoman Emma Raducanu.
