“Totally different vibes than Midnights,” Swiftie Iga Swiatek gave an insightful review of Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’

The world was caught off guard when Taylor Swift released a surprise 31-song double album under name “The Tortured Poets Department” aka TTPD. One of those people was WTA No.1 Iga Swiatek, who immediately listened to the songs after exiting the Stuttgart Open.

In a recent interview via the Tennis Channel, the host asked Swiatek to give a review on Swift’s new album. The Pole gave an honest take. Swiatek felt that the new album lacked melody and was more lyrics-oriented. She felt that Taylor Swift had focused more on devising the lyrics than the music itself.

I feel like the melody is kind of adjusting to the words, if you know what I mean, rather than... It's just my feeling. I don't know what she focused on. She always focuses on lyrics, so it's hard to say. But I like it. Totally different vibe than Midnights.--I most like the songs that are kind of leaning forwards, the vibe of Folklore and Evermore. I would love her to come back to that.

Swiatek drew comparisons between “Midnights” (2022) and TTPD, noting the distinct vibe of each. Despite this, TTPD is performing well, securing multiple spots on the Billboard charts.

Swiatek even went on to name some of her favorite songs, including “So Long, London,” “The Alchemist,” “The Albatross,” “Fortnight,” and “Florida!!!”. She also expressed her hope to attend the Eras tour in 2024.

Iga Swiatek targets a third Italian Open title after phenomenal end in Madrid

WTA No.1 Iga Swiatek has been in sublime form from the past few tournaments. Her best performance so far came at the Mutua Madrid Open, where the Pole went to the finals to beat Aryna Sabalenka in a helluva of a match.

After Madrid, Swiatek quickly headed to Rome without much rest. The Pole ace admitted to using rest days for relaxation rather than practice. She’s had success in Rome before and hopes for the same this time.

I know that if I’m going to stay longer in a tournament, I might have also some days off where I don’t even practice. We’re trying to plan it differently than last seasons because we are worried. These tournaments are longer and it’s not possible to have days off before, so sometimes you have to have them during.

Swiatek had won the title in 2021 and 2022 but unfortunately had to pull out in the quarter-finals the next year against Elena Rybakina, who went on to win the title. The Pole would look to re-assert herself back on top by winning a third title in Rome.
