“These tournaments are longer,” Iga Swiatek unsure about being fresh in Rome after a sensational run in Madrid

After an unforgettable week of tennis at the Mutua Madrid Open, the tour heads on to Italy for the all-exciting Rome Open. However, there is no gap for the players, who are bound to play back-to-back tournaments due to the hectic scheduling.

A tight turnaround between tournaments presents a challenge for WTA no.1 Iga Swiatek. Fresh off a victory against Aryna Sabalenka in a cracker of a match, Swiatek was forced to immediately travel to Italy and begin her preparations for her first game. The Pole admitted that the quick tournament changes make juggling practice and rest difficult.

“These tournaments are longer,” Iga Swiatek unsure about being fresh in Rome after a sensational run in Madrid

I know that if I’m going to stay longer in a tournament, I might have also some days off where I don’t even practice. We’re trying to plan it differently than last seasons because we are worried. These tournaments are longer and it’s not possible to have days off before, so sometimes you have to have them during.

said Iga Swiatek via Tennis Majors.

The top seed at Rome will start her tournament in the second round after receiving a bye. As a past winner of this tournament (2021 and 2022), Swiatek would look to assert her position at the top. Despite not being fresh in Rome, Swiatek backs herself up to try to make it to all practices and prepare herself for the win.

Iga Swiatek reviews Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department ahead of the Rome Open

WTA No.1 Iga Swiatek gave a review of Taylor Swift’s brand new album “The Tortured Poets Department” as she landed in Rome for the Italian Open. As a huge fan of the American artist, Swiatek gave an honest review of the 31-song double album.

The Pole had previously been very critical of Swift’s Midnights album (2022), which went on to win the Grammy. For TTPD also, Swiatek had a few words to share. She reckoned that there are no “poppy” songs and that Swift had focussed more on words than melody.

I feel like the words are so complicated that she focused more on that than the music itself. I feel like the melody is kind of adjusting to the words if you know what I mean…but I like it. Totally different vibe than Midnights.

said Iga Swiatek in a recent podcast episode on the Tennis Channel.

Among her favorites, Swiatek listed “So Long London”, “The Alchemist”, “Fortnite”,” Florida”, and “The Albatross”. Despite the hectic tennis schedule, Swiatek holds onto the dream of attending the 2024 Eras tour. Currently, the Pole is focused on winning her third title in Rome as she is set to begin her match against Caroline Dolehide.
