Spanish tennis star Paula Badosa is going through a tough phase in her personal life as the 26-year-old recently announced her separation from boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Spaniard posted a note on social media while announcing the news of the couple parting ways. Now, Badosa has delved deep into the matter and explained what led to the decision. She also drew a Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov analogy to better explain her point. Badosa said that the separation was more due to the two players being busy with their careers. She explained that while everything looked great till they were together, the careers running parallel became a problem.

Badosa then said that her separation from Tsitsipas was pretty much similar to what happened with Sharapova and Dimitrov. The Spaniard said that it was like having the right person but at the wrong time.
When we were great, the relationship was great. Other times, we have our own careers, our own things, and sometimes it’s better to separate ways. This reminds me a lot of the story of Maria [Sharapova] and Grigor [Dimitrov], where you meet the right person but maybe in the wrong moment. Paula Badosa further talked about her relationship with Stefanos Tsitsipas and said that the Greek and his family have been very supportive. Badosa said that the feelings are mutual between the two. She also wished Tsitsipas the best for the future.
Badosa also talked about the future prospects of their relationship. The Spaniard said that as the two players will continue to meet each other on the tour, nothing can be said about what the future holds for the two tennis stalwarts.

While her personal life is tumultuous at the moment, Badosa is doing just fine in her tennis career. The former World No. 2 advanced to the second round of the Rome Masters as she beat Russia’s Mirra Andreeva in the opening round. Badosa will lock horns with Emma Navarro in the second round.
The Spaniard will look to make it count as Badosa has not done great in the last few tournaments. She suffered in Madrid as well as in Charleston. Meanwhile, her campaign in Miami and Stuttgart was cut short in the second round by Aryna Sabalenka. Hence, Rome presents her with an opportunity for redemption.
