The Madrid Open first-round match between Corentin Moutet and Shang Juncheng witnessed a great drama that elicited quite a lot of reactions on social media. Both players put on a show to end the night on high, but in the end, only one managed to win.

However, Juncheng was determined to come back and quickly took a couple of break points to win the second set and force the match into a decider set.

The third set was the best set of the match, as both players did not give an inch. The match approached closer to that four-hour mark, and they had to fight it out in the tie-break. The stage could not get more intense, as the players were tied in the tiebreak yet again.

Amidst the intense situation, Moutet’s racket slipped while serving, resulting in him not having a racket and losing the point at an important stage. Fans immediately slammed the Frenchman, thinking that he did it to intimidate his opponent.

Though the racket slam was by-mistake, fans speculate that it was intentional.

Never seen a bigger clown.

Fan wrote on X for the hilarious behavior amidst the tension.

In the end, it was Juncheng who managed to hold it together at the tiebreak, beating Moutet for the second-round position.

Even though the umpire clearly stated that coffee would not be provided, Moutet continued to argue with the official. Nonetheless, all his tactics did not put his opponent off, who was better at the tie-break and managed to win the game. Well, fans had a lot to troll about.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

Shang Juncheng will now advance to the next round and will face homeboy Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Madrid Open had started well and will only get better with the seeded players yet to start their campaign.
