“Low budget impersonator”- Fans cringe at Andrey Rublev’s mimic as a failed attempt at comedy goes viral on social media

On April 16th, the official Instagram handle of Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters shared a video that has gone viral. In the clip, a man is seen trying to mimic Andrey Rublev but unfortunately, it failed to make the fans laugh.

Rublev was standing nearby and simply smiled while watching the person mimicking him. Monte-Carlo’s Instagram handle shared the video with the caption: “When Andrey Rublev met Andrey Rublev.”

Rublev became the champion at the Monte-Carlo Masters last year. He defeated Denmark’s Holger Rune in three sets in the final to win his first title in the tournament, which was also his first Masters 1000 title.

Andrey Rublev opened up the practice session with Rafael Nadal

King of Clay Rafael Nadal made a comeback to the sport after quite a long while. Injuries hindered him from competing, making him miss events like the Australian Open, Qatar Open, Indian Wells, Miami Open, and the Monte-Carlo Masters. Before Barcelona, he played at the Brisbane International this year but exited after sustaining an injury.

Before his Barcelona Open campaign, Nadal was spotted playing alongside Andrey Rublev on clay. Ahead of the Russian’s first match, he was asked about his experience of training with the 37-year-old.

I mean he killed me, or I mean I killed myself. I don’t know, but the practice is always nice with Rafa. But, no didn't really ask, because we arrived at the court when it was time. So we had to start to play.

Andrey Rublev said

Rublev added that most of the players always wanted to train with Nadal, and revealed that his coach asked the Spaniard to practice. The 26-year-old also thinks it’s tough to believe it’s Nadal’s last campaign in Barcelona.

I think for sure (it was me). I don’t think Rafa asked someone for practice. I think most of the players are asking Rafa to practice. So I’m pretty sure my coach takes to his team and this is how we arranged the practice.

Andrey Rublev added

Rublev played his first-round match against Brandon Nakashima but lost in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(8-6). Before the Barcelona Open, he played at the Monte-Carlo Masters, losing in the Round of 32 to Alexei Popyrin.
