Following recent player-fan disputes at previous tournaments, spectators at the ongoing Barcelona Open are relieved to witness some high-class sportsmanship from players. At the start of the tournament, Matteo Berrettini displayed a class act by assisting his injured opponent during a match.
Today, Rafael Nadal also showcased sportsmanship during his match against Flavio Cobolli. Nadal took an early lead in the match, winning the first set and securing early breaks in the second set.

During the match, as Rafael Nadal was serving for victory, a spectator disrespected Flavio Cobolli by jeering and saying “goodbye” as Cobolli faced defeat. Nadal paused his service routine, looked at the fan disapprovingly, and nodded his head in disappointment.
Known for his sportsmanship and positive attitude, Nadal does not condone disrespect toward opponents. His response to the incident earned him even more support from the crowd, showcasing his class and integrity on the court.

Spanish Maestro Rafael Nadal has started his last Barcelona Open surprisingly well. Despite not having played much tennis in over two years, Nadal still managed to pull out a major victory. He took on Cobolli with dominance and managed to pull out a straight-set victory 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the next round.
Having previously announced that it is most likely his last season, the Spaniard hoped to put up his best show, especially on clay. With the upcoming French Open in mind, Nadal got in the right mind as he started well in Barcelona.
Now, he is up against Alex de Minaur. Despite facing a challenging opponent, the Spaniard remains hopeful of outperforming the Australian player. It will be de Minaur’s first match at the Barcelona Open due to being fourth seeded player.
