‘Not At That Level’: Djokovic Says He’s Behind Alcaraz And Sinner But Promises To Rise Again

Novak Djokovic’s 2024 Wimbledon Championships was the best tournament he played all year, and it’s a bright spot he hopes to keep building on.

The Serbian hasn’t had a very good 2024 season, as he’s yet to win a trophy. This year’s Wimbledon was the first final he made all year, and that paints a clear picture. We’re talking about a player who won three of the four Grand Slams last year, which shows that he’s far behind his rivals this year.

The legendary player is well aware that he’s not performed up to his standards, which he’s been working on changing. His level in recent weeks has been markedly batter, but it’s still not at the level players like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

He spoke about that after losing to Alcaraz at Wimbledon, admitting that right now both are ahead of him, but he’s keen on improving and getting close to them.

“Being able to reach the final of Wimbledon gives a great confidence boost. But I also feel like in a matchup today against the best player in the world right now for sure, other than Jannik, both of them are the best this year by far… I feel like I’m not at that level.”

“In order to really have a chance to beat these guys in the Grand Slam latter stages or Olympics, I’m gonna have to play much better than I did today and feel much better than I did today.”

Djokovic has generally performed really well in the final quarter of the season. Not only that, he experienced multiple setbacks throughout his career, like when he couldn’t play in Australia and the United States, and always rose from those challenges, and he wants to do the same now.

“It’s not something I haven’t experienced before in my life.. in the face of adversity, normally I rise, learn, and get stronger. That’s what I’m going to do.”
