Gauff & Pegula Record Third Consecutive Doubles Loss Together

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula played their first grass match of the 2024 season together, but it was a loss at the 2024 Berlin Open.

The American duo didn’t get to play a lot together in 2024. It was either because of circumstances or because Pegula struggled with an injury, and because of that, their only third event together came at the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin.

Previously, Gauff teamed up with Katerina Siniakova, and together, they won the title at Roland Garros. It was the Czech player who she also had to play in Berlin, but this time around, Siniakova was on the other side of the court with her compatriot Linda Noskova.

The start of the match was solid from both teams. They were able to hold their serves easily, until the eighth game, when the American duo had the first break point of the match.

However, they weren’t able to use their chance, and immediately in the following game, they offered their opponents their first break point of the match, but the Czech duo was able to use that.

On top of that, Gauff and Pegula couldn’t use another break point, when their opponents were serving to win the opening set, and as a result, they lost the first set 4-6.

The Czechs entered the second set much better. Siniakova and Noskova were rock-solid on their serve, while they broke both Gauff and Pegula, building an easy 4-0 lead early in the second set.

With Siniakova’s experience and Noskova’s fire power, the duo didn’t get anywhere close to losing that lead, even despite rain delay postponing the match, as they recorded a straightforward win in two sets, 6-4, 6-0.

For Gauff and Pegula the situation is less than ideal as they have only about a month left until the Olympics, where they want to play together, representing the United States, but they didn’t get to play a lot together, which this loss only made worse.
